What we do

Mortlake with East Sheen Society

Our Aims Projects    50th Anniversary

Founded in 1969, the Mortlake with East Sheen Society is your local civic society concerned with the protection and enhancement of our urban and natural environment. We have over 400 members.

Our area is defined by the boundary of the Parish of Mortlake with East Sheen which extends from the riverside to the centre of Richmond Park. Much of the urban area has Conservation Area status while Richmond Park is a Grade 1 listed park and a National Nature Reserve.

Our Society monitors planning applications and any proposals for traffic management, makes representations as needed, works with our local councillors and provides a forum for residents to make their interests and concerns known. It also plays an active role in the improvement of local amenities and occasionally initiates projects.

While often acting as a pressure group, the Society is entirely non-political – the well-being of Mortlake with East Sheen is our sole concern.

Social gatherings, walks, talks and visits to places of interest provide opportunities for members to meet.
